Three Dog Bakery Treats Now in Walmart

Three Dog Bakery, a Kansas City, Mo.-based dog bakery franchise, reported in mid-June that a new line of oven-baked dog treats is now available in select Walmart stores across the United States.

"Offering our brand in Walmart stores nationwide is a great opportunity to broaden our reach and offer our dog treats to pet parents and their furry family members who may not have the unique experience of visiting our bakeries," said Scott Ragan, president of Three Dog Bakery. "Leveraging Walmart's nationwide presence allows us to continue our mission to bring the tastiest, most wholesome treats to pets around the planet."

The company collaborated with Walmart to develop about 14 new items to launch exclusively in up to 3,000 Walmart stores, Ragan said. In developing the new treat line, Ragan said the company aimed to differentiate it from the line of packaged goods available in its bakeries and in independent pet stores. For example, items in the Walmart line come in smaller packaging sizes and have different flavor profiles.

"Certainly we would not seek to have any side by side comparisons," Ragan said.

The new line includes P'Nutty Paws, Bitty Bites, Lick'n Crunch, IttyBitty Bones and V'nilla StarBites. Ragan expects the new items to become available to other mass and drug merchants by the end of the year.
