Garmon Corp. Acquires Overby Farm

Nov 23, 2010

The Garmon Corp., the Temecula, Calif.-based manufacturer of NaturVet pet supplements, reported in early November that it has acquired Overby Farm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Overby Farm of Leland, Mich., manufactures Hip Bones pet treats and Hip Flex supplements—both of which promote joint health. All of Overby's products contain tart cherries, which according to Garmon, have been identified by Michigan State University's Bioactive Natural Products and Phytoceuticals Laboratory to contain pain relieving, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds.

The Garmon Corp. president Scott Garmon said the Overby Farm line, with its tart cherry ingredients, is a natural fit with his company, which specializes in natural supplements, particularly joint health supplements.

"We felt that the tart cherry science and formulations inherent in Overby Farm's product line fit our mission perfectly," he said.

Production of Overby Farm products will move to Garmon's facility on in Temecula. The line is slated to roll out Jan. 1, 2011.

Overby Farm owner Carol Jones Adams and sales representative David Adams are both joining the NaturVet team. Carol will help with the launch of the line and new product development. David will step in as Overby Farm Eastern sales rep.

"We are very excited about joining forces with the NaturVet team to expand the Overby Farm product line in the marketplace," said Carol. "We firmly believe in the Garmon Corporation's mission because it follows our original mission as well."
