De Haan Petfood re-starts production

De Haan Petfood bv has successfully re-started the production of pet food. The production in De Haan’s facility in Nieuwkoop, the Netherlands, was stopped due to an explosion on May 7 causing severe damage to the production line.

The explosion occurred in one of the so-called retorts, in which cans are sterilised under pressure. Over the last couple of weeks the damaged part of the production has been rebuild and tested. Since last week the production of pet food was re-started.

Shortly after the incident De Haan Petfood managed tot relocate a part of its production to other pet food manufacturers in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe.
