Americans spent more than US$42.8 billion on natural and organic products in 2003, according to an annual market review published in The Natural Foods Merchandiser. This represents an 8.1% increase in natural products sales over the previous year.
Pet products saw some of the healthiest gains in this sector, reports the trade publication. The magazine also reports that sales of organic pet products were up 31% in 2003. The market overview is produced jointly by The Natural Food Merchandiser and sister publication Nutrition Business Journal.
