Sergeant''s(R) acquires KC Production Facility from MGP Ingredients, Inc.

Sergeant's Pet Care Products, Inc. has announced the acquisition of a state-of-the-art production facility from MGP Ingredients, Inc., effective August 21, 2009. The sale of the Kansas City, Kan., facility includes all equipment used for the production and packaging of pet-related products, which principally includes extruded plant-based resins and finished pet treats. MGPI will retain ownership of equipment used for the production of the company's Wheatex line of textured wheat proteins, sold for use in meat extension and vegetarian products. This equipment is located in a separate section of the production facility and will be operated under a toll manufacturing arrangement between Sergeant's and MGPI.
